Susan Burgess is an artist, now based in Derbyshire in the UK but who has previously painted extensively in Cornwall. Susan paints mainly in oil and her skill with colour comes from years of design with fabrics in her work as a restorer. Being a Gemini, she is comfortable with both vibrant colour as well as more tranquil and delicate hues.  She has been inspired by the sea and coastal landscapes of Cornwall as well as the vivid shades of lighting.

Seascapes:

My paintings reflect the changing moods of the sea from the powerful surf of Cornwall to the serenity of the calmer waters of our coast.

Landscapes:

I try to convey my emotions through my landscapes when I am inspired by a changing scene be it by colour, light or texture.

Still Life:

My aim is to create mood so that one is made to think what happens next – is a hand coming out of the darkness to pluck the orange from the plate!
